2. Moving the pieces

Pieces move just as they do in chess, but Football Chess adds the ability to push opponents out of the way. When a piece enters a square occupied by another, that piece is shoved one square in the same direction. If the next square is also filled, the push continues until an empty space or the sideline is reached.

Strong pieces like rooks and queens can drive a whole line backward, while nimble knights choose the exact L-shaped path of their leap. Planning your route lets you chain pushes together or avoid bumping into your own teammates.

Running the ball

Moving the ball carrier step by step is safer than throwing, but it takes coordination. Use pawns to clear space and shield your runner from tackles. Remember that pushes can hand the ball off automatically if you collide with a teammate.
